Maggie Cormack

Maggie is a resolute and compassionate case manager who has experience in caring for complex clients of all ages in both the acute and community settings. She supports clients with multiple medical complexities both physical and psychosocial.

During her time as a clinical nurse specialist in the community, Maggie managed highly complex caseloads of clients. These clients had a diagnosis of cancer and/or life limiting conditions such as cardiac and respiratory disease, neurological disease, dementia, and frailty. As a result of her extensive nursing experience Maggie is very knowledgeable in organising specialised care to meet these needs including symptom control and psychological support.

Maggie has extensive experience of coordinating and managing support needs for those who choose to die at home. She meticulously plans for any eventuality that may happen during the course of this care to ensure that the client does not suffer unduly, and the family feel supported.

Maggie is skilled with facilitation and coordination of multi-disciplinary (MDT) team working and managing MDT meetings. She believes that a collaborative approach is essential to achieve the client’s goals.

Maggie has worked at various NHS cancer speciality units and has considerable experience of clients who have undergone chemotherapy, radiotherapy, and bone marrow transplants. This client group and their families required not only expert support including post op recovery, wound management, and symptom control but ongoing emotional and psychological support. Maggie finds this area of work hugely rewarding and is comfortable and calm when caring for this client group in the most difficult of times.

During her time at the Royal Marsden Maggie cared for adults who required surgery and anti-cancer treatments. These included neuro, orthopaedic, gynaecology, breast, gastrointestinal and head and neck surgery. As part of her work Maggie has supported clients who lack or have fluctuating capacity and has been involved in Deprivation of Liberty Safeguarding (DoLS) applications. She understands and works alongside statutory services when there are concerns about safeguarding any of her clients.

Maggie’s extensive clinical skills and experience mean that she can effectively assess clients for care packages and equipment and consult with both statutory and private agencies regarding their needs.

Maggie prides herself on her ability to deliver a consistently high standard of individualized care to her clients and their families. She is diligent, reliable and a reassuring pair of hands for her clients when experiencing the most challenging situations.
